 Asian Academy for Sports and Fitness Professionals (AASFP) was founded in Hong Kong in 1992 with a mission to uphold the standard of the fitness industry in Asia and provide professional education and training programs to all fitness professionals. Armed with a team of professionals who share a passion for fitness and built on dedication and commitment throughout these 17 years, AASFP has become the most prominent and reputable fitness education and training institute in Asia. Over the years, education and training programs have been organized throughout Hong Kong, Mainland China, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, nurturing over 10,000 fitness professionals.
In 2002, as the first fitness academy to enter China, AASFP introduced the concept of “Fitness” to a new and budding Chinese fitness industry and has since worked with the Chinese Sports Authority to set recognized industry standards. With education programs organized in over 30 cities in Mainland China and the establishment of the first-ever fully-equipped Fitness Academy in Beijing in 2005, 80% of professional fitness trainers in China are currently certified by AASFP. AASFP is also proud to be a co-organizer with the Chinese Aerobics Association (CAA) and State General Administration of Sport for Fitness China Beijing Convention and is honored to be part of the China National Sports Coaches’ training programs. AASFP looks forward to continue supporting the National Team and Coaches for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
| | |  On the international front, AASFP has formed a network of international partnerships to connect the region with the global fitness industry. This includes the Strategic Partnership with the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) and partnered with IDEA Health and Fitness Association as International Affiliates. AASFP’s appointment by the New Zealand Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs NZ), a founding member of the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals (ICREPs) as the sole “Approved Training Provider” for Registered Exercise Professionals (REPs) in Asia also marks the next step forward in bringing in international standards into Asia. AASFP-certified trainers are now eligible for direct REP registration to train in countries throughout the world.
In association with Children’s Hospital Institute of Sports Medicine – CHISM (Australia), Body Arts and Science International - BASI™ (USA), Yogasana, Australian Strength and Conditioning Association – ASCA (Australia), Australian Weightlifting Federation – AWF (Australia), Federation of International Sports, Aerobics and Fitness – FISAF (Finland)and Training Partners Technogym, AIREX and Thera-Band, AASFP has been providing a variety of internationally accredited certification and training programs for fitness professionals in Asia. AASFP looks to continue working closely with Education Partners in Asia such as California Fitness, Ozone Fitness and Impulse Total Fitness to provide quality education training for their trainers. | | |  In order to establish a platform for fitness professionals to network and support their continuing education, AASFP is the main organizer of the annual Asian Fitness Education Expo (AFEEX) in Hong Kong and Beijing. This conference provides fitness professionals from throughout the region an event to learn about the latest fitness techniques from world class presenters. To support the professional careers of fitness professionals, AASFP is also the Professional Affiliate of the Asian Fitness Therapy Center (AFTC) – providing fitness professionals and their clients an integrated approach to well-being and rehabilitation.
The sports and fitness industry in Asia is stepping into a new era. With the 2008 Beijing Olympic encouraging a greater awareness of fitness, the fitness industry is booming throughout Asia.
